Zofate Hnam Lungphun
(Zofate National Monument)
Zoram Thar Zofate Lairelna organised ‘Zofate Homecoming and Sacred National Conference’ at Thenzawl, Kanaan Phaipui on December 2021. Zofate’s National Monument was inaugurated during this conference. This monument established and declared that Zofate have one common ancestor ‘Zo’ and therefore we are one nation and one people. The following slides will explain the meaning, the construction and outlook of the monument as received by Rev. Dr. Zaichhawna Hlawndo.
70 Feet Tall
Significance:
(1) For over 70 years, Zofate have been divided under Indian, Myanmar and Bangladesh administrations. This monuments marks the end of division and the beginning of unity.
(2) Under the Republic of India, we have been divided into different tribes and identities for 70 years (1950-2020). This monument will ring the jubilee bell towards unity in one national identity.
(3) Zofate identify as Christians and the Holy Bible narrates the bondage of the Israelites and God’s promise to free them and return them to their motherland after 70 years (Jeremiah 29:10). This monument signifies that we are return to our true identity ‘Zofate’.
Cross
A cross stands at the top of the monument. This cross signifies:
(1) Zofate’s foundation will be the covenant of the cross, which Jesus established at Calvary.
(2) The cross is a sign of God’s grace upon Zofate to be counted as the children of God.
(3) The cross conveys that the kingdom of God will reign everywhere the Zofate reside. ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ is printed in Zo and English languages vertically and horizontally respectively.
Globe
The globe stands under the cross. As the Holy Bible teaches, the globe signifies that the Zofate will bear fruit for the world, a chosen nation– a Christian nation and land. The Globe bears the following writings which speak of our new identity:
(1) Light to the world
(2) Light to the nations
(3) House of prayer for all nations
(Please note that that the globe is currently in need of renovation. Any help/donation towards the reconstruction is warmly welcomed)
Three Stone Stove
The globe is supported by a ‘Three Stone Stove’, a stove that has been used for generations by our ancestors to cook. This stove symbolises that our nation will unite as strong as a three-fold cord. Zofate have been lost for generations and we will not unite in one cord, one national identity. These pillars have ‘Zofate’ vertically imprinted on them, also further signifying that we have been given the responsibility to hold and support the world through the gospel of the kingdom of God. These three pillars also symbolise the three covenants of God: Kingdom Covenant, Nation Covenant and Land Covenant
Three-Sided Stone
In the middle of the monument, a three-sided stone with a pointed top stands. The stone symbolises that Zofate will now stand together, firmly established as one nation, never to be divided and severed again. This stone holds the inscription of the beginning of our genealogy and how we have descended and branched out into different clans from one common ancestor Zo.
This genealogy has been carefully studied and confirmed with different historical researchers of different clans. A full explanation is available in the newest book 'Zoram Thar Encyclopedia' by Rev. Dr. Zaichhawna Hlawndo.
Zofate Clan Names
The twelve (12) stones at the base of the monument is the inscription and names of all the major clans and sub-clans of Zofate. The stones has made every effort to include every single clan ever identified by Zofate. The twelve stones also further symbolise the 12 chosen tribes of Israel and how Joshua erected 12 national stones in the Biblical story. It also draws from the 12 chosen disciples of Jesus Christ and the establishing of God’s nations through them. As Zofate have been lost for many decades, we have been given many tribal identities and clans and have also created many of our own. The vital point is that we have one common ancestor.
